In April/May this year, COVID-19 prompted the notion to hold an online version of the Festival, which was a huge success, covering 134 events involving 50 countries, establishing a well-deserved international standing for Leeds Digital Festival. Now, there’s the opportunity to continue the celebration of all things digital in person, with the Festival running from 21 September to 2 October in this exceptional year.
In 2019, 25,000 people attended 240 events, delivered by 750 speakers at 96 venues. The number of tech events in Leeds exceeded those which took place in San Francisco.
This year, sponsors include: Leeds City Council, Crisp, University of Leeds, tpp, bjss, dmw, LEP, AND Digital, TheDataShed, RSM, CSP, North Coders, Creative Space Management, bolser, first direct, Aberfield, avenue hq, City Fibre, cds, CPP Group, Force 24, Asda, Arup and Marsh Commercial. There are still opportunities available for sponsors. Premier spaces have been filled, although there are some Executive and Associate sponsors spaces…
…and it’s good news for potential event organisers, because event submissions are open for the Festival, due to take place from 21 September to 2 October. This time, the Festival will include both physical and virtual events. The Festival runs an open platform system, so that anyone can host an event and it is free. You can submit any tech event of your choice, and Festival organisers are encouraging events particularly under the theme of Recovery, Resilience and Reset. These will demonstrate how the tech community is responding to COVID-19. So – organise your event, submit the details to the Festival by 26 August, and the full programme will be published on 1 September.
