Organisers of the new Leeds Digital Charity Ball have hailed the sale of tickets and sponsorship as a great success and have put out a call for auction prizes.
The new event, to be held at the Queen’s Hotel on April 28th, is aimed at bringing the City’s tech community together and raising valuable funds for the Leeds Community Foundation.
Organised by a volunteer committee that includes digital luminaries such as Bruntwood SciTech’s Deb Hetherington, Transition Partners’ Sandra Patel-Stewart and Stuart Clarke from Paceline PR and the Leeds Digital Festival, the ball aims to raise an annual £100,000. All funds raised will be used in a separate fund distributed by the Leeds Community Foundation, and it is hoped that funds will be added to throughout the year by tech firms attending the event.
Stuart Clarke said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of the tech sector in terms of both sponsoring the event and buying tickets. This means we can give as much money as possible to the Foundation, and to raise even more money, we’ll be having an auction on the night. We already have some incredible prizes, including tickets to see The Script in a private suite at Leeds Arena and a stay in a villa in the south of France, and are asking the wider business community to donate further prizes to maximise the money we can raise”.
Kate Hainsworth, CEO of the Leeds Community Foundation said: “We’ve always had huge support from the tech sector in Leeds and it’s great to be the official charity partner for the new Leeds Digital Charity Ball. I’d like to join the Ball organisers in their call for more auction prizes, as the more funds we can raise on the night, the bigger difference we can make to some of the most disadvantaged communities in Leeds”.
