Arbor Education is a socially-driven EdTech company on a mission to transform the way schools work, using smarter, hassle-free tools. Arbor’s Management Information System (MIS) is currently used by over 1,000 schools, helping staff save time whilst improving student outcomes. The company, whose Customer and Sales Office made its home in Leeds 4 years ago, recently decided to establish a new development and engineering function in the City, a decision which was an easy one considering the City's strategic location, its fast-paced environment and the large body of potential employees.
Requirements for this post: You should already have at least 3 years relevant experience working, preferably with some previous agency experience. You should be able to demonstrate experience of working in a design role as part of an agile team to deliver great products and services that delight their users. While running user research sessions is not a requirement for this job, having an understanding of user research methods, and having experience of working with user research, is necessary. You should be able talk confidently and passionately about design and UX. Experience of building design systems. Familiarity with the Gov.uk or NHS design system is welcome. While front-end web development is not part of the job, some knowledge of web design including HTML and CSS is beneficial Be comfortable working with Sketch or Figma, with Adobe Creative Cloud experience welcome.

You'll have: A degree or postgraduate qualification in Interaction Design, Digital Media, Graphic Design or similar. SOme of the qualities our ideal candidate will have: Previous significant commercial experience from a development or architecture background Expert knowledge of build and deployment pipelines utilising Azure DevOps Experience of leading and developing a software development team ideally within a digital agency environment ensuring that deadlines and project goals are met. Clear experience of working within a structured code environment with formal source and version control and security management. Technical design and solutions architecture. Ability to visualise and build solutions end to end from design through to deployment.
Key competencies and experience: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organisational skills including time management. Willingness, ability to self-learn and quickly adapt to new technologies, tools and working practices. Minimum 4 years commercial development.

We are looking for developers who are equally as excited abut Data and want to work across different problems, projects and clients and who genuinely care about the end to end data space (including engineering, science, quality, analytics and BI). You’ll be a programmer at heart with a passion for code as well as an understanding of application architectures. The technology we use varies between clients so although we value specialists, we encourage our engineers to become technology polyglots and provide training and mentoring to support with this. This means an appetite to learn is a must!
