Senior Insights Manager: Betfair International

The role:

We are looking for a Senior Insights Manager to join our Insights and Analytics team in Leeds or London on a 5 months FT

Reporting directly to the Head of Insight & Analytics, this exciting role offers the opportunity to deliver unparalleled insights to our international business. You’ll spearhead a dynamic blend of continuous tracking and innovative ad hoc projects, collaborating seamlessly with diverse teams within Commercial Insight & Analytics.

Your mission: harmonize data from various sources to paint a comprehensive customer portrait. As the ambassador of the customer’s voice, you’ll empower teams with data-driven recommendations, driving optimization of our proposition.

Our Leeds office is at the heart of our business. The 8-storey building has an onsite staff gym and cafeteria, two heated rooftop terraces, a dedicated gaming room and a staircase amphitheatre. The space brings all our teams under one roof in the biggest private letting office in Yorkshire.

What you’ll do

The responsibilities of the role

  • Act as the voice of the customer to enable the business to make informed decisions based on deep customer insight.
  • Ensure the customer is top of mind for the business and stakeholders have a solid understanding of the customer by continuously delivering insight in a ground-breaking and engaging way e.g. via “Pints with Punters” sessions.
  • Deliver ongoing tracking projects to inform the business about Betfair’s performance vs. competition in the broader market place and amongst the existing customer base across the customer lifecycle.
  • Answer ad hoc business questions using existing data sources or where appropriate, work with 3rd party agencies to design and deliver primary research to aid the development and refinement of the International proposition.
  • Work closely with key partners to proactively identify key opportunities for further investigation and help collaborators to define and refine business questions to be answered. Key partners include MD Commercial International and International Directors.
  • Handle the International research budget – working with finance to keep spend within target. Raise POs for suppliers and negotiate appropriate rates for 3rd party research.
  • Lead International research “Communities”, by recruiting customer to take part in the programme and engaging them with regular interactions.
  • Manage and develop one Exec level direct report.

Skills / Technical Competencies:

  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • The ability to distil large amounts of data into actionable recommendations
  • Proficient user of market research and surveying tools
  • Strong empathy and passion for the customer
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Comfortable in adapting existing approaches and developing new methodologies in areas where there may be limited existing data.

Education, Qualification & Experience:

  • Highly numerical / analytical graduate ideally with a 2.1 from a top university
  • At least 4 years’ insight experience either client side or in a research agency (or equivalent)
  • Extensive experience of leading projects across a variety of qualitative and quantitative methodologies
  • Consistent track record of developing and presenting impactful customer and business based insight from a combination of different data sources.
  • A desire for a role which you can grow into, with the opportunity to do more strategic projects over time.
  • Ideally some people management experience.
  • Ability and desire to work in a multifaceted, fast paced, demanding environment.
  • Regular travel required between Dublin and London, as well as potentially to international markets.
  • Relevant foreign language skills would be a bonus.
