About Music Vine & Uppbeat

A Leeds-based start-up launched in 2015, Music Vine has built a reputation as one of the worlds leading music licensing platforms for video professionals. At the heart of the company is a mission to democratise music licensing, providing productions of all scales with access to world-class music, while operating a model that is fair for artists.

In January 2021, Music Vine launched a brand new platform, Uppbeat, which is poised to revolutionise how YouTubers and other content creators access music, while enabling musicians to earn from a booming untapped market.

Job Details

Uppbeat has experienced rapid growth since its launch, and as such we are looking for an experienced front-end developer to join us and help keep the momentum going!

The front-ends of our Music Vine and Uppbeat platforms are built in React JS, using API calls from our back end systems. Were looking for an experienced front-end developer to join us in creating new pages and site features.

Were seeking someone who is confident working to specifications provided by our designers, and who has a passion for coding beautiful and functional user experiences that scale between mobile and desktop browsing.

Responsibilities

  • Develop front-end features, pages and improvements across both the Uppbeat and Music Vine products in a secure, well-tested, and performant way.
  • Ensure new front-end features & pages accurately reflect designs provided, and are effectively optimised across all supported browsers & devices.
  • Conduct ongoing reviews & liaise with testing personnel to ensure the front-end of the sites are stable, well-optimised and secure.
  • Coordinate with the development & product team to identify and address UI, performance and optimisation problems.
  • Craft code that meets our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices. Maintain & advocate these standards via code review.
  • Recognise impediments to our efficiency as a team (“technical debt”), propose and implement solutions.
  • Ship small features and improvements with minimal guidance and support from other team members.

Experience & Skills

Significant professional experience working with the following are crucial:

  • React JS
  • SASS
  • Version control systems (e.g Git)

We are also looking for:

  • Experience with webpack (advantageous)
  • Experience with development tools such as NPM and Gulp
  • Experience with Google APIs, including YouTube and Sign In
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards
  • A keen eye for detail in ensuring new features & pages accurately reflect designs.
  • Comfort working in a highly agile, intensely iterative software development process.
  • Positive and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Effective communication skills: Regularly achieve consensus with peers, and clear status updates.
