Beyond The Livestream: Why We Need Better Collaboration Between Artists, Technologists & Developers is hosted by Leeds 2023 & Global Leeds Forum. Facilitated by Shanaz Gulzar.

Join Leeds 2023 & Global Leeds Forum at Leeds Digital Festival for a panel discussion bringing together artists, commissioners, producers and makers from art, performance, gaming and creative technology backgrounds to speak about the value in making art for online and virtual spaces.

In this last year, online worlds and gaming kept us in touch with our playful side and became a social lifeline. Gaming skyrocketed during the pandemic, reaching people who needed an outlet for connection at a time of mass isolation.

This isn’t new. But it has smashed apart the stereotype of gaming as antisocial.

Music, art and performance also became a lifeline. Artists have the skills we need at a time of crisis – making complex things happen on a deadline and often on a shoestring. Culture and creativity in its broadest sense has a capacity to serve communities both practically and spiritually: helping us imagine alternatives ways of being.

So how can we make stronger connections between art, performance and the creative digital world? There is immense power in both. Let’s harness it.

Further information including guest panellists and speakers will be released soon!

This event is part of a series of activities delivered in partnership between Leeds 2023, Global Leeds Forum and Leeds Digital Festival to celebrate the power in art and digital collaboration. You can also get involved in: Forest as Research A Digital Leeds.
