Summary of position
The Principal Architect is a key member of the DataShed’s professional services and product build team, responsible for leading the design, development and implementation of intelligent analytical solutions for clients, and building out the DataShed’s proprietary software range.
The Principal Architect will provide design and technical delivery leadership on a number of projects, utilising a number of different tools, technologies and techniques.
The Principal Architect must:
Maintain a broad knowledge of the technology landscape helping the DataShed maintain market-leading tools and technology
Act as a consultant to the DataShed’s clients as and when required
Be prepared to operate in a hands-on development environment, using a number of different platforms, languages and frameworks.
Lead definition and maintenance of best practise and standards in development and design principles and process.
Skills & Experience
The Principal Architect should have a broad experience in varied architectural and engineering roles, spanning both proprietary and Open Source software.
The Principal Architect should have most of the experience below:
SOA/Micro service design and implementation
Data Modelling for operational and analytical systems
Highly-scalable data processing platform design and implementation
Strong OO coding skills in at least one language (Java, .Net, C, C++, Ruby, Scala)
Experience of moving in a fast-paced, agile environment
Experience of responding to aggressive, deliver-focussed objectives
Working knowledge of at least one Cloud (Elastic Compute, Storage and Data Services) provider
The Principal Architect will be based at the DataShed’s Leeds office. Travel to client sites will be required from time-to-time.
